Anthony Sodono III represented pro bono a student in his appeal before the Woodbridge Board of Education to contest a school’s decision to suspend the student for a period of ten days and transfer the student to another school as a result of certain language contained in a school assignment.  The Board of Education reversed the school’s decision and authorized the student to remain in the same school.

Trenk served as a panelist on a seminar entitled “The Bankruptcy Card and How to Play It: A Guide For Non-Bankruptcy Judges and Practitioners” at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick, NJ.  The Honorable Rosemary Gambardella of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, the Honorable Nancy Sivilli, J.S.C. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Criminal Part, Essex County, and Diane E. Vuocolo, Chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, also served on the panel.  The seminar was hosted by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the National Association of Women Judges, and the Bankruptcy Section of the NJSBA

Winter 2007-08
Anthony Sodono III, John M. McDonnell, and Michele Dudas extensively lectured for the Financial Literacy Project of the New Jersey Bankruptcy foundation at various high schools in the State of New Jersey.  Also, on October 2, 2007, Mr. Sodono presented the FLIP Program to school superintendents and educators at a symposium held at Raritan Valley College.  FLIP is an education outreach program dedicated to educating high school students on credit, credit cards, identify theft, and related issues.

After extensive discovery, significant motion practice, and a trial, the Superior Court of New Jersey ordered the County of Essex to award the medical services contract at the 2,200-inmate Essex County Jail not to the incumbent vendor, but rather, to CFG Health Systems, LLC, an unsuccessful bidder for the contract.  The County had originally awarded the contract to the incumbent vendor even though the vendor had submitted a bid significantly higher than the bid submitted by CFG.  While the incumbent submitted a $37 million bid, CFG submitted a $33 million bid.  The court agreed with CFG’s argument that the bidding process had been flawed.  Richard D. Trenk, with the assistance of Henry M. Karwowski, Michele M. Dudas, and Mark Y. Moon, represented CFG in the matte.

Richard D. Trenk was named one of the "New York Area's Best Lawyers" by New York magazine. His profile appears in the December 2007 issue.

John M. McDonnell was appointed the fiscal agent for the Jewish Center and Hebrew Day School of Lakewood.  Anthony Sodono III represented Mr. McDonnell and prepared a comprehensive forensic report regarding the School’s operations.  As a result of the report, substantial legal fees and protracted discovery litigation were avoided.

An article entitled "A Primer on Creating a Homeowner's Association Budge," written by Gina R. Orosz, appeared in the November 2007 issue of Community Trends, the monthly publication of the New Jersey Chapter of Community Associations.

TD received the Corporation of the Year Award from New Shoes International, a non-profit organization engaged in the distribution of new pairs of shoes to underprivileged children in the Newark and Essex County area.

Fall 2007
Joseph J. DiPasquale represented Maplewood Homebuilders, LLC and Century 21 Atlantic Realtors, Inc. in their purchase of over 3,000 active real estate listings sold by Chapter 11 debtor Foxtons North America Inc.  On October 29, 2007, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey entered an order approving the sale.

Joseph J. DiPasquale, with the assistance of Sam Della Fera, Jr. and Henry M. Karwowski, served as special transactional counsel for Kara Homes, Inc., a major residential home builder located in East Brunswick, NJ, and many of its affiliates. The companies filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in the wake of the housing market decline and the subprime mortgage industry crisis.  They reported assets in the approximate amount of $350 million and liabilities in the approximate amount of $297 million.  On September 12, 2007, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey confirmed a plan of reorganization enabling many of the companies to emerge from bankruptcy.

LLC in connection with the approval of two (2) major condominium housing proposals in Orange, NJ.  Mr. Webster was featured in an article on the story in the September 6, 2007 issue of the Star Ledger.

Newman, Chapter 11 Trustee, in the bankruptcy case of Road-Con System, Inc., the operator of a 150,000 square foot warehousing facility of dry goods in Fair Lawn, NJ.  Joseph J. DiPasquale, with the assistance of Joshua H. Raymond, represented Mr. Newman.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, after a six (6) day trial, entered judgment on partial findings in favor of Defendant Hal Tenoso, falsely accused of committing fraud in a loan transaction.  Richard D. Trenk, with the assistance of Henry M. Karwowski, represented Mr. Tenoso.

Collezione Europa USA, Inc. successfully obtained a federal court order enjoining and attaching assets, including bank accounts and proceeds from store liquidation sales, of MODA Furniture, Inc. and related defendants.  The order resulted in a prompt settlement of complex intellectual property litigation.  Thomas M. Walsh represented Collezione.

Delzotti in the bankruptcy case of Ferrier Electric, LLC. Mr. Delzotti had been appointed only five (5) months earlier. Also, all creditors will receive full payment of their claims under the Plan. Joseph J. DiPasquale represented the Trustee.

Anthony Sodono, II wrote the chapter covering the United States Trustee. Joseph J. DiPasquale and Henry M. Karwowski wrote the chapter covering retention and compensation issues in bankruptcy. Henry M. Karwowski wrote the chapter covering matrimonial issues in bankruptcy.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit affirmed the entry of an order, entered in the bankruptcy case of Rose Color, Inc., granting the motion of Chapter 11 Trustee Donald V. Biase for authorization to conduct a sale of the debtor’s assets. Joseph J. DiPasquale, with the assistance of Henry M. Karwowski, represented the Trustee in the matter. Raza v. Biase (In re Rose Color, Inc.), 2006 WL 2043354 (3d Cir. July 24, 2006).
