Bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, and debtor/creditor rights have been the primary areas of concentration since the inception of the Firm. Commercial Litigation and Business
Law
The Firm maintains a highly diverse commercial litigation practice in federal courts throughout the country and state courts in New Jersey and New York. This practice includes representation in cases involving contracts, guarantees, foreclosures, notes, fraudulent conveyances, lender liability issues, receiverships, and many other issues.
Government Affairs
The Firm represents both public and private entities in a wide range of matters, including debtor-creditor cases, tax collection cases, tax appeals, tort claims cases, and public bidding controversies. Also, it acts as general and special counsel to governing bodies and their members.
Real Estate and Leasing
The
Firm represents a number of developers in matters involving
commercial strip centers, manufacturing and warehouse facilities, free
standing retail locations, and vacant property throughout New Jersey
and New York. Its real estate and leasing department negotiates and
drafts leases, ground leases, easement agreements, sale contracts and
qualified like-kind exchange trust agreements, and when necessary,
institutes and prosecutes appropriate eviction actions.
Land Use and Zoning
The Firm provides development advice and assistance and appears before municipal planning, zoning boards, and county and state regulatory agencies. Also, the Firm prosecutes and defends appeals from local boards and agencies and vigorously litigates compliance issues.
Employment
The Firm
represents both public and private entities in all types of
employment matters, including wrongful discharge, discrimination,
wage and hour, and sexual harassment, in state and federal courts
and administrative agencies. The Firm provides early
case assessment and cost-effective litigation management intended to
assist clients in deciding whether to vigorously defend a case or
settle. Also, the Firm provides insightful and business-minded
counseling on employment issues, including preservation of
confidential and proprietary business information and enforcement of
restrictive covenants.
Labor
The Firm represents both public and private entities in all
aspects of traditional labor law including cases before the National
Labor Relations Board, the New Jersey Public Employment Relations
Commission, and the New York State Employment Relations Board.
Also, the Firm counsels clients on strategies for winning union
organizing campaigns and for avoiding the commission of unfair labor
practices. Finally, the Firm has broad experience in the
negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements,
including the arbitration of both interest and rights disputes.
